Admission Criteria

Kingsfield Institute of Business and Technology (KIBT) offers a wide range of courses in vocational and higher education and welcomes applications from school leavers, post-secondary students and mature-aged applicants within Sri Lanka and across the globe.
In accordance with KIBT’s Focus, we encourage diversity by welcoming students of all backgrounds and cultures to enroll in our courses and work to create an open, welcoming atmosphere. 

Admission Criteria (Vocational Education and Training Courses)

Applicants must meet the academic and English language admission criteria for Vocational Education and Training courses. Please note: Some courses and units have additional prerequisites for entry, which are detailed in the course outline.

Academic Requirements

All applicants must:

  • Have a formal qualification considered equivalent to Sri Lankan Ordinary Level qualifications 
  • Be a minimum 18 years of age prior to course commencement

English Language Proficiency

Any qualification that ebullient to IELTS (Academic) 5.5 overall score with no band less than 5.0 or equivalent. Students who don’t have these qualifications need to follow the English foundational course before commencing the selected course of study.

Admission Criteria (Higher Education Courses)

Applicants must meet the academic and English language admission criteria for KIBT Higher Education courses. Please note: Some courses and units have additional pre-requisites for entry, which are detailed in the course outline.

English Language Proficiency

Any qualification that ebullient to IELTS (Academic) 5.5 overall score with no band less than 5.0 or equivalent. Student those who don’t have these qualifications need to follow the English foundational course prior to commence the selected course of studies. 

Applicants with Higher Education Study

Applicants who have undertaken any higher education study, within the last ten years since leaving school, may be eligible for admission to a KIBT course with credit transfers (advanced standing).  

Applicants with Vocational Education and Training (VET) Study

Applicants who have undertaken any VET study within the last ten years since leaving school may be eligible for admission to a KIBT course with credit transfers (advanced standing).  

Mature Age Students
Applicants with Work and Life Experience

KIBT understands that preparation for study is not restricted to formal educational attainment and that valuable intellectual and skills development can be gained through wide ranging experiences. KIBT will review applications on a case-by-case basis from persons of at least 21 years of age, who do not have formal qualifications for entry but who seek admission to courses on the basis of their educational and skills development through experience and informal study.
